The Cerebral Self

Wood & Wire Project

In the Wood & Wire project, I researched biological, childhood, societal, and environmental factors that impact a person’s identity. Although one may argue that one specific factor impacts the most out of the others, I concluded that the balance of all four impacts a person. As a college student, societal pressures are the most present in my life. Through the dollhouse, I showed the pressure to grow up and settle down. Inside the house, three wire people are situated in different parts of the house. In the front, there is a wire graduate student and a wire couple, awaiting their first child. In the back, the stressed-out wire person is spiraling due to external comments.

What makes you YOU?

Spiraling under pressure

Whether you like it or not, intentional or unintentional, we all experience the pressures of life. We are a product of our environment, and comments affect and follow us throughout our lives.
